FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Jack is… just an average guy! He’s a little bit taller than average at 5’11”/180cm and has thin, but healthy build. He looks like a guy that works out casually, but definitely not enough to be noticeably muscular. In fact, considering he’s closer to middle age than not, there’s part of it that’s likely just fighting off the dad bod while he can. His hair is brown and coiffed with a swoop, though one strand is lighter than the others—looks like gray will be coming for him soon. He has a small (horrible) goatee under his lip that’s likely an attempt to make himself look younger. His most notable feature is his eyes, though. Jack has heterochromia; the right eye is blue and the left is green.

Personality wise, Jack is a loud personality. And also kind of loud in general. He doesn’t have much in the way of a brain-to-mouth filter and will say whatever is on his mind, even if it gets the shit kicked out of him. He’s prone to joke around and generally be unserious (his humor tends towards either immature or dad jokes) even if he’s sometimes a dick about it. Sometimes it’s intentional, sometimes it’s not! But generally, Jack is friendly, boisterous, and talkative. He gives the vibe of someone that was probably the class clown in school.

SHARD
A Hyperion™ yellow hexagon about two inches across. It’s located on the right side of his chest.

ASPECT TATTOO
Small and tucked behind his right ear.

PERSONALITY
At his heart, Jack is an intelligent, charismatic, and ambitious man that wants to do the right thing above all else. He’s the sort of man driven by wanting to make the world a better place, and his ambition is far-reaching. He’s incredibly driven, and when Jack has something in mind that he wants to accomplish, he’ll put his all into it until it becomes reality. He has a habit of talking until he gets himself in trouble. He's very loyal, almost blindly so, and tends to trust people far more easily than you might expect. He tends to think the best of people rather than the worst, and he has an optimistic view of most things. Jack has a warm and magnetic personality, so despite those rude or questionable things he can say or do, he's still very easy to get along with.

However, Jack has a hero complex, because he truly believes he’s the one that can save the world. And when the stakes are that high, Jack also has decided that that the ends will justify whatever means go along the way. Even though he’s not as bad as he’ll become, he’s still done terrible things because he feels they’re necessary. He’s selfish that way too because it’s part of his personal glory. He wants to help people and protect the innocent, but there’s a part of that want that’s purely so he’ll be lauded and acknowledged for his good deeds.

BACKGROUND
Jack had a horrible childhood, to put it lightly. Jack's father died when he was young and his mother left him in the 'care' of her mother, who was (at a minimum) physically abusive towards her grandson. He spent his childhood coding and tinkering, which led him to leave as soon as he could to go work for Hyperion. He married young and had a daughter with his wife named Angel. However, Jack’s poor luck continued when Angel started to manifest unique powers. Without getting too into series lore and jargon, her powers are extremely rare, powerful, and worst of all, desired. A bandit attempted to kidnap Angel, and not yet having full control of her powers, accidentally murdered the kidnapper as well as her mother.

After this, Jack essentially locked Angel away in an attempt to control (and use) her powers. He was assigned to the Helios space station and was able to use Angel as a proxy to convince a group of Vault Hunters to open the Vault containing a monster that Jack had wanted to use for himself. The Vault Hunters defeated it, but Jack was able to claim its eye and utilize it in creating a superweapon for the space station called “The Eye of Helios”. This powerful laser was capable of razing the planet, which Jack wanted to do to purge it of the bandits that populated the planet and to civilize it, as well as looking for further answers about his daughter’s powers.

Taking the eye didn’t go without notice, though. Colonel Zarpedon of the Dahl corporation found out about Jack’s plans. She conquered Helios and took control of the Eye to point it at Pandora’s populated moon, Elpis. She wished to destroy it to prevent Jack from finding and claiming the Vault on the moon. Jack had just hired a group of Vault Hunters to do so, but rather than find the Vault, he quickly retasked them to stopping Zarpedon from destroying Elpis and the people living on it. At his canon point which is early in the game, Jack was just betrayed by an old colleague who sold out Elpis to Zarpedon and then tried to kill Jack. He had been planning to show mercy, but once they tried to shoot him in the back (literally), he instead murdered them. He also discovered that it felt good to do so.

ABILITIES & SKILLS
TECHNICAL SKILL Jack has been programming since childhood, and presumably was good at it (and kissing ass) since he managed to rise high enough to get some kind of managerial position in Hyperion and in constructing the space station Helios. Functionally useless in Kenos, though. However, he does have some skill with engineering and hardware, though he’s not nearly as good at it as he is programming. He mentions working on designing guns and the like for Hyperion as well as working and tinkering with the CL4P-TP robots.
TIER 1 SPELLS 1. Cure Wounds
2. Heroism
3. Prestidigitation

OUT OF CHARACTER
Writing Style: I prefer brackets, but will match a preferred style!

Backtagging: As long as a thread is continuing along at a good rate, I'll backtag for a very, very long time lmao

Threadhopping: Always good to ask first, but 95% of the time the answer will be "yes, absolutely"

Offensive Subjects: None for me! However, since Jack is a controversial character, feel free to use this post as a general opt-out for him. Comments are screened!

IN CHARACTER
Physical Violence: Punches/slaps/etc are always fine and Jack probably said something stupid to deserve it. Anything with lasting effects just hit me up since Jack is a totally normal dude!

Death/Dissipation: Most likely fine, just ask first!

Physical Affection: a-okay!

Shipping/Sex: See above! Please note, Jack will likely catch feelings. He's a simple idiot.

Mental/Communion: Always!

Offensive Subjects: Jack is guarded when it comes to family and won't react well to people trying to pry into his past in this regard.
